Dear MCR,
We hope you all survived the spookiest weekend of the year. Those of you who had your arm chopped off by Bill Spectre on Tuesday night on the Ghost Tour, we trust you're recovering well. We are very excited for a whirlwind week of some work but plenty of play at MCR social events coming up... MCR Lunch, Week 4, Thursday November 3rd The second MCR lunch of term is happening on Tuesday. All those who have received a spot have been notified. We have a couple of spare spots left though, so let us know by Monday midnight, and we can squeeze you in for a lunchtime feast! MCR Dinner "Middle East", Week 5, Thursday November 10th If you haven't come to an MCR Dinner yet, you're missing out! It's amazing food and great fun! This time the Chef will bring you an amazing Middle Eastern themed dinner. If you're convinced, please sign up here until Friday 8pm. We will then contact you to let you know if you have a spot! Worcester Exchange Dinner The eagerly awaited Worcester exchange dinners are nearly upon us. Renowned for its architecture and 26 acres of award winning gardens, this exchange is one not to be missed. Our journey starts Monday 7th of November (5th week) at Lincoln, here we will welcome Worcester to our very own place in the sun. Friday 17th of November (6th week) marks the away leg where we shall assemble at Worcester to enjoy an evening of great food, wine and conversation (all likely to be in copious quantities). Registration covers both legs and the cost for both dinners is £20.10. Places will be prioritised for those who can attend both legs of the exchange. Registrations are open now and will close by 6pm Wednesday the 2nd of November. *SIGN-UP HERE* Book Club Meeting "The Library of Babel", Week 6, Sunday November 13th The Book Club theme for this year will be a short story from every continent... For our inaugural meeting, we'll read Jorge Luis Borges' "The Library of Babel" ("La biblioteca de Babel", from the collection The Garden of Forking Paths). In the club, we'll read aloud an extract from the short story then discuss it together. So between now and then, take a look at the short story and get in touch with us if you fancy reading some of it aloud at the group! [As well as all our events this week: remember, remember this fabulous opportunity for fireworks, mittens, sparklers, bobble hats and hot chocolates next Saturday the 5th at South Park...] Stay sparkly, Lincoln!
