Hey everyone, it is 6th week, so get excited for some amazing welfare events including a Cake Decorating Workshop and a trip into the Cotswolds. In the meantime treat yourself with some welfare tea and exercise. Also, please contact us or any member of our peer supporter team if you feel like talking to somebody.
1. Welfare Away Day – only three spaces left
Finally, the day has come! On Saturday we will break out of libraries, labs and Oxford. Together we will walk the final stretch of the beautiful Cotswold Way (6 miles, approx. 4 hours), before wandering down into Bath for a few hours of food/drink/shopping/exploring. Transport is provided, and there are currently 3 spaces left for the trip. These will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, so contact either Rose (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Jochen (email@example.com) and don’t miss the first Lincoln WelfareAway day. :)
Unfortunately, the price has increased to £11. Please contact us if you cannot make it anymore and we will take you of the list. Apologies for this.
2. Cake Decorating Workshop on Thursday, 8pm in the MCR
Join award winning* cake maker and decorator Sophie Rabet for a free cupcake decorating workshop! Learn to pipe like a professional and sprinkle edible glitterlike you've been doing it all your life. More importantly, eat lots of cake, take a break from work, and hang out with your friends. Everyone welcome (guys too, of course!)
*Sophie won 'best appearance' for her Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake in the prestigious Lincoln MCR Bake Off 2016. She may have won other awards too, butWelfare Bake Off is no doubt her proudest achievement to date.
3. Welfare Tea on Friday, 4pm in the MCR
Come along for our all-time favourite and check out Rose’s newest creation: a cinnamon Nutella cake with toasted hazelnuts. I can attest to the ultimate addiction potential of this one.
4. 20-20-20 with Tania on Thursday, 6pm in the EPA
Come along for a free class for your strength, endurance and flexibility and leave with a smile on your face. :)
5. Yoga and Zumba on Wednesday and Tuesday afternoon in the EPA
Do you feel a bit tense at your desk or do you need some recreation after an exhausting week of Summer Eights? Then come along for Yoga (Wednesday,3:45-4:45pm, EPA) and Zumba (Tuesday, 1-2pm, EPA) classes! These classes are organized by our lovely JCR and free to attend.
6. Dissertea with Heather on Tuesdays, 2.30pm - 6.30pm in the MCR
Join the newly established writing and studying group, and find some extra stimulus for your thesis in some sugar, caffeine and company.
7. Welfare Run
There won’t be any Welfare run this week but get excited for next week :)
8. Mindfulness sessions on Wednesday, 7pm in Pembroke College
The Oxford Mindfulness society is holding weekly mindfulness sessions in Pembroke college which are open to all students. The course cost £4, please find more details on their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1685503318350402/
9. Welfare Supplies
You know the drill. Condoms are in the laundry rooms. If you need anything else, pidge us a note or send an email, and we'll respond as soon as we can. Have fun and stay safe :)
That’s all from us for now,
Rose and Jochen
- This week you could treat yourself with a delicious Couscous salad. This is by far my favourite food in the summer. Check out this clip for a basic recipe:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJKzEd3w9pA
