*** 8th Week Welfare Notices ***
How is it 8th week already? The term has flown by, and there's just one more welfare tea left before the Easter Break begins. This means it's our final week as MCR Welfare Officers.
As we've mentioned before, there will be a by-election at the beginning of next term, when (hopefully) your new welfare officers will be elected. In the mean time, whilst we won't be running any more events, we are still available to provide support to anyone who needs it. If you require sexual health supplies, information about welfare support in Oxford, or just want someone to talk to, we are more than happy to help in whatever way we can. Please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Before we go, we'd just like to say a huge thank you to all of you for making our time as welfare officers so rewarding; thank you to everyone who has joined in the baking, running, pizza eating, countryside walking, ceramic painting, movie watching, tea drinking and everything else. It's been a real privilege to organise events and to get to know you all.
Just a few short notices for 8th week:
1. Bake Off
Thank you so, so, so much to all of you wonderful people who baked, and to everyone who came along to judge! It was a truly phenomenal selection of cakes and a really fun afternoon :)
2. Welfare Tea, 4pm, MCR
The final welfare tea of term!
3. Student Minds, Yoga & Mindfulness
Oxford Student Minds is excited to bring you a brand-new yoga workshop series with the lovely Yoga Quota — Mindful Movement!
This six-week course, taking place from the start of Trinity term 2017, has been specially designed to help you establish a regular yoga practice and enjoy the benefits of an active body and relaxed mind. Each week, a different wellness-related theme will be explored in a 60-minute vinyasa practice, which includes postures, breathing techniques and meditation.
No previous yoga experience is needed, and it's completely FREE! This course will take place every FRIDAY from 10.30-11.30am in the yoga studio above Turl Street Kitchen, for the first six weeks of Trinity term. Participants are required to commit to the entire workshop.
If you’d like to join the workshops, please fill in the Google Form link: https://goo.gl/forms/dBXFT7m9TwwQSvQz2. Participation will be confirmed only upon receipt of an email from Student Minds.
4. Free Fitness Classes
Zumba is , at EPA
Yoga is on Wednesday, 3:45-4:45pm, at EPA
20-20-20 is , at EPA
This week will be Tania's last ever 20-20-20 class, as she and her family will be leaving Oxford soon.
We'd like to say a huge thank you to Tania for all of the fun classes she's run for us over the last year - she will certainly be missed.
5. Welfare supplies
Condoms are available in the laundry rooms at EPA, Little Clarendon Street and Bear Lane. Please do send us an email if you notice that the supplies have run out, and we'll top them up as soon as we can. If you require anything else, you can pidge either of us a note, or send us an email, and we will be happy to help. Requests for welfare supplies are treated as strictly confidential, and dealt with as discreetly as possible.
6. Peer Supporters
Just a reminder that Lincoln has a number of trained peer supporters, who are able to meet with you to discuss in confidence any worries or concerns that you may have. Their names are: Elise Maes, Annina Graedel, Holly Hathrell, Laura Johnson, and Ferdinando Randisi.
We have now filled our two spaces for peer support training in Trinity Term; Shazeaa Ishmael and Michael Ben Yehuda will be training, and we're very excited to be expanding our peer supporter team! If you're still keen to get involved, there will be a training space in Michaelmas next academic year, and then another next Hilary. So if you didn't get a chance to train this time round we'd encourage you to apply in the future!
Wishing you all a wonderful week, and a restful Easter Break.
Rose and Jochen xx
