Well done to the Social Team for putting on a great night, a huge thank you to those of you that volunteered to set up, do a bar shift, sit at the door, or help clean up this morning, and a shout out to our guests of honour - Simon & Laura. This is your chance to find out from the MCR Committee the latest things that are going on in College, and discuss some important points. Keep an eye out for Adam’s e-mail with the agenda later this week. Wine will of course be served. Also as part of the General Meeting, we will be holding elections for the open positions on the MCR Committee - Food Rep, Freshers’ Rep, 2x Social Reps, IT Rep and Equality & Diversity Rep. If you’re interested in running for any of these positions, please get in touch! E-mail me or Adam and we can let you know more about the roles, and check out Adam’s e-mail from last week with details on how to be nominated. Important note correcting the Social Rep e-mail earlier: there will not be a husting at 6pm, and you will not need to bring your bod card to vote. You simply just have to come to the General Meeting at 8pm. See you there! 2. Dissertea - Monday 2pm-6pm A message from our Academic Rep Heather: “Dissertea will be from 2pm - 6pm in the MCR on Monday. Splash is a student volunteering initiate started at MIT in 1957, which allows local school students to take classes in a broad range of subjects taught by university students. Undergraduate and graduate teachers can give one-off lessons in subjects they are passionate about, and thus hopefully inspire students to learn beyond their traditional school curricula. Examples of past class topics include biochemistry, the psychology of Facebook, Roman tombstones, knitting and the language of the Time Lords! If you are interested in being part of our next Splash event please visit the Oxford Splash website and register to teach, or feel free to respond to email oxfordsplash@gmail.com with any questions. Teachers will need to attend an initial meeting this term, and another short meeting at the beginning of Hilary. We will also need volunteers to act as stewards on the day, so if you don’t fancy teaching you can still be involved! Stewards will not need to attend any sessions this term - they will only be needed on the day of the event, and for a very brief meeting just before the event. Details of initial teacher meetings (you are only required to attend one): - 15 October 5pm Corpus Christi College, Fraenkel Room - 22 October 1pm, Merton College, FitzJames - 22 October 5pm, Merton College, FitzJames - 19 November 1pm, Corpus Christi College, Fraenkel Room These meetings will last less than an hour.
