Interested in Outreach? The Lincoln College Schools Liaison Officer, Claire Hogben, has asked me to forward you all details of an upcoming Early Career Academic Outreach Network Training Session. The Oxford Early Career Academic Outreach Network aims to connect interested D.Phil. students, fixed-term teaching and research staff from any discipline with opportunities to engage with schools outreach projects run across the collegiate University. They run termly tailored training sessions and manage a database of interested researchers and teaching staff to which professional outreach staff from across the University have access. To sign up to the database please see https://oxfordearlycareeracademicoutreachnetwork.wordpress.com/about/ Please note this is a different sign-up sheet from the training sign-up below. The training session is on Monday 13 February (5th week), 4.30-6.30pm, MBI Auditorium, Corpus Christi College. To book a place for the training session and view the full programme, please fill in the form here: https://goo.gl/forms/nOBFFpoiiL0ML3sK2 Separately to this training session, we’re also exploring ways in which MCR members can be more involved in the outreach work that Claire does with schools. This can be a really great source of teaching experience for MCR members. If you’re interested in getting involved, let me know! 2. Keep that Hall feedback coming How ‘bout all those changes at the start of term? Are they working? Are you going to Hall more? What else can be done? Keep letting me and Jess know! 3. MCR General Meeting - Wednesday 8:30pm (/after Great Hall) Another friendly reminder that the next MCR General Meeting is on Wednesday, with a start time largely dictated by when Great Hall finishes (because I may or may not have realised that Great Hall & the General Meeting were on the same evening…). Look out for an e-mail from MCR Secretary Adam Steel with the agenda. 4. MCR Elections coming up And another friendly reminder that your MCR Committee Elections are coming up in a few weeks time! If you’re remotely interested in being one of the following positions on the MCR Committee, please get in touch with the incumbents and they will be more than happy to answer any questions you’ve got and tell you how much fun they’ve had being on the MCR Committee! The positions being elected this term are: - President (incumbent Kevin Ray, [email protected]) - Treasurer (incumbent Josh Abbott, [email protected]) - Secretary (incumbent Adam Steel, [email protected]) - Social Secretary x2 (incumbents Glenn Cahilly-Bretzin & Michael Ben Yehuda, [email protected] and [email protected]) - Welfare Officer x2 (incumbents Rose Mortimer & Jochen Kockert, [email protected] and [email protected]) In particular, if you are interested in being President, Treasurer, Secretary, or Welfare Officer, then OUSU are running a ‘Winter Training Conference’ this term on Sunday 29th January to train common room representatives. More details can be found here https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/winter-training-conference-tickets-30167500807?ref=estw. They’re opening this up to potential representatives as well, so if you’re interested in attending then please e-mail me. It will be *F*R*E*E* (i.e. MCR pays). If you’re interested in a different position on the MCR Committee, then don’t be afraid to start talking to the incumbents now! The elections for the rest of the MCR Committee take place at the beginning of Trinity Term. Full details of your MCR Committee members can be found here http://lincolnmcr.weebly.com/committee.html. 5. New Library clear-up practices starting soon Here’s an important notice for all of you regular Lincoln Library users. At the moment, the Librarians clear desks between 9am and 10am each morning to prevent desk-hogging, moving all unattended items to a Lost Property desk near the entrance. Unfortunately, this Lost Property desk has turned into more of a long-term storage for notes and books without homes. From now on, instead of things being moved to the Lost Property desk, they will be moved to a grey Lost Property bin. Once that bin is full, it will be moved to the JCR. If you have reason to believe you’ve got things in the Lost Property bin then you’ll be able to go and retrieve them from the JCR. So, best way to not get caught out is to stay by your stuff while library staff are clearing out desks each morning, or come back early enough to pick up anything that you left there the night before. Basically, if you keep your stuff with you, it won’t go missing. Simple! ––––––– External Notices 1.
